We're giving our home planet an extra 2-5 Industry per pop right from the start, which means those first couple buildings or exploration ships will get out 1 or 2 turns earlier, giving you that much of an advantage. This setup leads to a seriously strong start, that you can use to snowball your way to any victory type you want. And with the increased weapon damage, you shouldn't need to rebuild your fleets as often, because you'll be winning more battles by a larger margin, so this might even save Industry in the long run. Increased ship cost isn't that bad, especially when you have a Komatite Volcano on your home planet. But it doesn't cost a thing, it actually gives you points back, which makes it great for any build, as it will help you fit other traits that are more expensive, and you even get something positive out of it. Price of Perfection would be useful as a trait eve if it cost you a small amount of points, just to get that bonus damage. But anything that adds pop slots or industry is good. But what I do with this trait, is keep starting new games until you get something amazing, like Garden of Eden (+1 pop slot, +1 FIDS/pop, +2 Approval/pop) or Komatite Volcano (+4 Industry/pop). You could get something that isn't all that helpful. Strange but Good has a little randomness. If you have to pick only one of these though, go with Titanium, as that's the one that gives you Industry. Guaranteed Titanium and Hyperium is great, not only for having access to those resources a few turns earlier, but also for having the +1 Industry and +1 Science on your home planet, leading to a stronger start. This can add a few hundred Industry to the system when it's maxed out. has 1 more Industry, and a -1 Approval., while Jungle has no negative impact on Approval.Ĭrowded Planets means I'll have more pop on every planet, which means more FIDS when it gets maxed out. If you can't afford Atoll, Mediterranean or Jungle are good alternatives. But Arid is a poor choice, as it has very little Food. It is tied with Mediterranean for the 2nd most Industry of any starting planet type, at 6/pop, only behind Arid at 8/pop. Price of Perfection II: +25% Industry cost of ships, +10% ship weapon damageĪtoll is the best starting planet for any race not based on the Riftborn. Strange but Good: Start with a positive anomaly on your home planet. Hyperium Source: Start with a source of Hyperium on your home planet. Titanium Mine: Start with a source of Titanium on your home planet. Whenever I make a custom faction, regardless of which faction I base them on, I almost always have these 6 traits:Ĭrowded Planets II: +2 population slots per planet
